February 1, 2020
It was a cool, peaceful morning at Southern Oaks Farm. The sun was shining bright; only a few light and fluffy clouds blowing by. The breeze actually felt quite nice for a February morning! I was pleasantly surprised; you never really know what the weather will do in South Mississippi during winter. Tanya and I spent a few moments exploring this beautiful venue before heading into the cottage where we greeted Kristan and all her girls. When we arrived, Kristan was applying her mothers makeup in the most gorgeous nook of the master bedroom. The all white bedding and drapery hanging around the room surrounded by so many windows had a certain heavenly glow to it. Kristan was all smiles while doing her momma’s makeup. She had such a peace and a glow to her. Her joy was truly infectious.
Josh and his guys were getting ready over at the groom’s suite across the property that day. When I walked in the suite, he was all smiles laughing and cutting up with his dad and friends. If he was nervous, I couldn’t tell. His dad stood by his side as his best man that day; he grinned with this biggest, most proud grin only a father could have on a day like today!
Before the ceremony began, Josh and Kristan had a private moment of prayer on either side of the barn doors. Careful to not see his bride too soon, Josh held her hand, eyes clenched shut, as he prayed over his beautiful wife-to-be and asked God to bless their lives and marriage. I stayed back to capture this beautiful moment, but I was just close enough to feel the love and emotion pouring from Josh’s heart as he invited Jesus to be the center of their day and of their lives.
We were all nerves as we anxiously awaited Kristan to make her way down the isle. None, however, as anxious as Josh to see his beautiful bride coming for him all dressed in white! Kristan and Josh exchanged vows, then took communion together under that big oak tree. When they said “I DO” and the preacher said “Kiss your bride”; SPARKS FLEW! To see these two make their way down the isle as husband and wife was truly a blessing and a sight to be seen! They almost floated as they walked! So much joy! So much love!
