Mathews Newton | Kayla Rashelle Senior Spokesmodel

February 28th and 29th, 2020

My, oh my! What a year 2020 has shaped up to be, and its still only March! I have been sitting here ready to post this blog for two weeks now. I have had trouble writing with all the news around me on the spread of COVID-19. My heart just breaks for so many reasons, but especially for my 2020 seniors!! Everything they have worked hard for and events and milestones they have been looking forward to have all been put on pause as we hold our breathe waiting for the next virus update! So, instead of trying to change the subject and act like everything is just fine, I decided to reach out to my spokesmodels and have them share what they are going through from their perspective!

Here is a little from Mathews Newton:

“My senior year has been eventful to say the least. It all feels very surreal and now more than ever. Ironically, 2020, our graduation year means perfect vision, but we cannot see what will happen next. We are all drowning in this big, grey pool of the unknown. My college orientation, track meets, competitions, and shows are all canceled. I have no clue when our senior prom or our graduation ceremony will be.. if we even have it? Corona is stripping the rest of our senior year away from us, however I am shifting the spotlight off of me and onto the ones that need it right now. I am willing to sacrifice any senior event if it means the elderly in our community will live another 10 years. I will happily give up my senior prom if it means that the Immunocompromised kid will live a longer, healthy life. Yeah, it sucks that we have to go through this, but It’s happening and there’s nothing we can do about it. I hope you all think about that older person in your life and choose to social distance yourself. I have personally devoted my time to a problem horse I am restarting, and it has been very therapeutic during this stressful time in my life. Just know that we WILL get through these tough times, and… “

WE WILL GRADUATE

Matthews, I love your heart!! I pray that the discomfort of this season brings forth a change in you that will lead you closer to God and a on a strong path seeking His will over your own! Our God is in control, He isn’t unprepared, and He will not fail us now!
